"Hey, shall I kiss your neck?" "Nope" "Then I should kiss your heart." "First you marry me." "What a fool I am! If a movie is made on my life the title will surely be 'A girl who fell for a hooligan'". "When I eloped [...], my mom cursed me. The curse would follow to [bring] ruin here. That's my fate." "Then you have found the right place. There is nothing left here to be ruined." Four sons of one Napoleon, long dead, stumbling through life without anchor in the scenic town of Kumbalangi, their widowed mother having renounced all familial responsibilities for zealous---and perhaps faux---religious engrossment, attempt to leave their old ways and learn to work together for a better life after happening upon course-correcting forces: education for the youngest; the rediscovered, unprovoked and unremitting love of an old admirer for the penultimate; brotherhood for the second, the most grounded of the siblings, albeit a bit aloof; and the guilt of causing the death of a loyal friend---survived by an expectant wife---during a capricious alcohol-catalyzed suicide attempt, for the eldest. An absolute delight of a movie. Very well-told and sincere. [16 November 2024]
