"What are you doing now?" "I'm thinking. I'm thinking about you without these clothes." "Open your eyes, at once!" "Oh, no, pardon, Madame. I mean, with different clothes." A Parisian tailor, resolved to be "a one-man French Revolution" in order to exact payment from a nobleman, upon visiting the latter's family cheateau, is introduced as a Baron by the defaulting customer to conceal the embarrassing financial position from the rest of the nobility, and ends up winning the heart of a noble princess. Certain scenes from the film - like the opening sequence 'The Morning Song of Paris', and the "Isn't it Romantic?" sequence - are cinema par excellence. A thoroughly delightful movie. [7 October 2024]
